DM Civil

Focus on safety pays dividends

April 2017

A major focus on safety has seen DM Civil achieve more than 1135 days Lost Time injury free. We are also proud to have achieved a Serious Injury Frequency Rate (SIFR) of Zero.

The impressive safety record comes about thanks to a concerted, ongoing and ever-adapting focus on strengthening a safety culture within the company.

DM Civil’s, Managing Director, Stephen Hall says the safety record is a big win, not only for employees but also for our clients and contractors.

“Our main goal is for our employees to go home safe and unaffected through a workplace incident to enjoy quality time with family and friends,” Mr Hall says.

“Our employees are the most important assets in our company. If we succeed in this one goal, all the other commercial benefits flow. By maintaining a highly trained, committed direct employed workforce and using industry best practices we identify, eliminate and minimise risks to ensure the safest project delivery. We are committed to providing work sites that are incident and injury-free for employees, subcontractors, clients and visitors. We place absolute priority on our safety record.”

DM Civil’s contactors and clients also stand to benefit, with DM Civil’s enduring safety record enhancing their own status as a safe organisation – a real win for project delivery.

The enviable safety rating has come about thanks to a long-term and continually improving focus on embedding a strong safety culture within the workforce. Mr Hall emphasises, safety success is achieved by continuing to improve on behaviours, procedures and mental approach. Our SEQ team are dedicated to maintaining and continually improving our management systems to ensure best practice and that every team member is working to the same high standards.

“There has been a combined effort from all employees striving to meet the common goal of safety in the workplace,” he says. “It is a shared responsibility that requires contribution and effort from the employer and employees equally.”
