Following our recent intake of apprentices and trainees, we’ve enjoyed getting to know the youngest member of the DM Civil team — Todd Pages.
Todd is a 16-year-old first-year Heavy Diesel Fitter apprentice based at our Maddington Workshop. He was introduced to DM Civil by his older brother Nicholas, who completed a work experience placement with us several years ago. Both Todd and Nicholas attended Mazenod College in Lesmurdie during their high school years.
Originally from Three Springs, Todd grew up in a hardworking family environment. His parents run the local IGA supermarket and also manage a wheat and sheep farm, instilling strong values of commitment and resilience — qualities that Todd has carried into his apprenticeship.
Since joining the team, Todd has quickly become a valued member of the workshop. He’s known for his punctuality, strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for learning all he can about his trade.
Outside of work, Todd lives life in the fast lane — quite literally. He’s an avid speedway driver with his own car in the Formula 500 junior category. Next year, he’ll transition into senior competition, where he’ll be able to remove the junior fuel intake restrictor and unlock the car’s full performance. At 17, he’ll also gain his driver’s licence, with his 4WD already waiting in the DM Civil car park.
Speedway racing runs in the family — both his brother Nicholas and father Jamie also compete on the track. Since starting over two years ago, Todd has competed across the southern half of Western Australia, with his most recent success being a start-to-finish win in Albany.
As if all that wasn’t enough, Todd also plays both Division One and Division Two basketball during the week. He’s a mentor in an ‘All Abilities’ division, where he supports and encourages other young people who face physical or mental challenges — a role that speaks volumes about his character and generosity of spirit.
We commend Todd for his dedication, both on and off the track, and look forward to seeing his growth in the workshop and beyond.
