DM Civil was proud to take part in The Big Dig for the second consecutive year, a fundraising event that brings the construction and civil industries together to support youth mental health through zero2hero.
Founded by Goran Utjesinovic, The Big Dig challenges teams to dig a one-metre-wide trench by hand, testing endurance, teamwork and determination, all while raising vital funds for youth mental health initiatives. It’s a simple concept with powerful impact, with industry professionals digging for a cause that helps young people build resilience and hope.
This year, Richard Haddow led a larger DM Civil team to the event, and their combined effort delivered impressive results. The team completed their trench in record time, just over 4.5 hours, and recognised a team Golden Shovel Award for the fastest and best dig on the day, with an outstanding performance by Simon Davis.
Close to $150,000 was raised at the Big Dig for youth mental health, funds that will help zero2hero educate and empower thousands of young people across Western Australia through its school programs and leadership initiatives.
Participating in the event reinforces DM Civil’s long-standing commitment to teamwork, community involvement and supporting positive outcomes beyond project delivery. The Big Dig also highlights the collaborative spirit that defines DM Civil, a team willing to put in the effort, support one another and contribute to something bigger than themselves.
