Project overview
This is the third stage of the proposed nine stage Tuckey Cove development in the fast developing Dudley Park area in Mandurah. It is located on the Western side of Wanjeep Street between Castella Drive and Sharperton Meander. Due to a spike in sales the client wanted this stage to be ready and available for sale as soon as possible.
Being situated on the site for stages 1 and 2 meant that construction works could start immediately and we were able to adhere to the client’s time frame.
The project involved 9,500m3 cut to fill and spoil earthworks, 280m of limestone retaining walls, 515m of sewer
reticulation in wet conditions, 513m of various sized stormwater drainage including the construction of an
overflow basin, 1km of water reticulation, 7,200m2 asphalted roads, an underground power network as well as
communication reticulation suitable for the National Broadband Network (NBN).
This 51 lot subdivision was completed to a high standard within the tight time frame set out by the client, ensuring they were able to meet their deadline for lot clearances.
Significant achievements and benefits
A large portion of the sewer reticulation was below the water table and well point dewatering had to be implemented to ensure dry conditions for the pipe installation. By being well organized, and through forward planning, the dewatering was kept to a minimum all the time ensuring the sewer was installed without any issues.
The roadworks had to tie in to existing roads at 3 separate locations. Detailed traffic management was implemented to manage the interaction between local traffic and construction machinery.
Part of the site was bordered by established homes which were in the direct path of prevailing winds. By keeping the site wetted down during windy periods there were no dust complaints from local residents. Two roads were redesigned to preserve existing trees as requested by the client. By adding protective kerbing and brick paving around the trees they became a feature that would not be disturbed by traffic.
Lots for new homes are a current demand in the popular Dudley Park suburb. DM Civil was able to help the client offer 51 Class A Finished lots by delivering this project within time constraints.
