DM Civil

Announcing DM Civil’s newest Chartered Professional Engineer

December 2017

It is our pleasure to recognise the graduation of Daniel Buckley to Professional Civil Engineer, Chartered status. Daniel graduated from the University of Nottingham in England in July 2011 with a Master’s Degree in Engineering with Honours. He worked in roles including investment banking analyst and as a structural designer before joining our team at DM Civil as a Civil Engineer. Daniel commenced with DM Civil on 2nd December 2013 and was recognised as a diligent worker with a genuine desire to fulfil his role.

Daniel has been working on his 16 module course for approximately 18 months. His competencies were verified at each stage by our General Manager of Engineering, Bruce Shaw. Daniel was also required to demonstrate 150 hours of continuous professional development to show commitment to learning and advancement in his field of civil engineering. His assessment at the state headquarters of Engineers Australia was held on Friday 3rd November where the culmination of the course was a 2 hour interview with 2 panel engineers as well as the state assessor, James Brown.

Daniel commenced in the estimating department which gave a good grounding in the principles on which we base our pricing, productivities and general methodologies for our projects. Following this, Daniel was introduced to the field and has worked on a variety of projects. However, his most challenging role to date was the recently completed Port Hedland Hospital demolition. This has been an 11 month journey for Daniel and an introduction to demolition works including an education in the classification, handling and disposal of asbestos. Daniel was responsible for a site workforce of over 20 people including an asbestos removal subcontractor, a demolition subcontractor, environmental consultants and DM Civil personnel as well as the client, the project manager, the quantity surveyor, the local government and random visits from the public and union officials. The project was high profile in Port Hedland, LandCorp and the government of WA.

We congratulate Daniel on his achievements to date and particularly on his recent appointment and we are proud as a company to have helped to foster an environment where this achievement is encouraged and celebrated.
